The pro-Makhado task team has threatened that there will be no elections taking place in Vuwani.
Community members will shutdown the area on Tuesday where they will have a mass meeting to pave a way forward on whether they will participate in Wednesday’s voting or not.
They are demanding that their area should be reincorporated into Makhado from the Collins Chabane Local Municipality.
IEC Chief Provincial Officer Nkaro Mateta says 628 people have applied for special votes in the Vuwani area under the Collins Chabane Local Municipality.
Mateta says everything is in place to make sure those who applied for special votes cast them.
Meanwhile, National Police Commissioner General Khehla Sitole is expected to visit Vuwani this morning.
He will attend a police parade before visiting some of the stations.
Several public order police officers from around the province and Gauteng have been deployed in the area.
Police fired teargas on Sunday to disperse a group of residents who were gathered at a local stadium to discuss their participation in the upcoming general elections.
