The Site C Issue: The Tale of Two Voting Systems

By Richard Habgood.

BC’S Site C dam is a very contentious issue. On one side, you have Premier Clark and Energy Minister Bennett, who are determined to build a dam that they say is necessary for future electrical needs and to power an LNG industry. Opponents contend that if BC does need the power, we can get it from less expensive renewable resources and without infringing on First Nations rights or destroying farmland that could feed a million people.

So how does the electoral voting system play into this scenario?

First Past the Post:

The 2013 BC Provincial election, using our first past the post (FPTP ) voting system, saw the Liberals win 44% of the popular vote but in doing so they gained 58% majority of seats in the Legislature. BC’s FPTP voting system awarded the provincial Liberals a “false majority ” government with a minority of votes. And because they gained a slim majority of seats, they have governed as if they have a mandate to do what they want and build Site C. Media Lying to Canadians about RCMP Fake Bombing of B.C. Legislature

Media linked bombing to Canada’s Muslim Community – which had NOTHING to do with it.

(July 31, 2016) The RCMP and Federal Government created a fake ‘terror bombing’ in Victoria BC in 2013. Then they and the media linked the attack to Canada’s Muslim Community, which had NOTHING to do with it. The ‘attack’ was planned and carried out by the RCMP. Nothing would have happened without the RCMP. That’s what Judge Catherine Bruce ruled last week. The Harper Government is also implicated.

Since the ‘bombing’, our Government and Media have spread fear, anger, hate, and division in Canada.  Muslim Canadians were the main targets … but ALL of us were the targets of this evil act. Our rulers WANT to divide us and distract us from the real issues we face. And they do it, by ‘creating another enemy’. How many thousands of times were the words ‘Terror, Bombing, and Muslim’ put together in the same sentence by our Media and the RCMP? Continue reading

Christy Clark Closes Vancouver Schools To Pay For Corporate Tax Cuts

But Globe and Mail Story doesn’t say that …

(June 29, 2016):  Public Education in BC is under attack as Premier Christy Clark closes schools to pay for Corporate Tax Cuts.  But Canada’s Corporate Owned Media won’t say that because journalists are not allowed to report the truth.  Only the Corporate Truth is allowed in Canada’s media.

A June 21 Globe and Mail story says the Vancouver School Board is looking at closing 12 schools to deal with a $27 million deficit.  The Globe tells us closing these schools would save about $9 million a year  This is about 1 / 1000 of one year’s profit of the Royal Bank ($10 Billion). But the Globe won’t talk about taxing the banks to give more money to our public schools. That’s an idea they do NOT want people to ever think about, so they never mention it.  In Canada saying ‘Tax the Banks’ is not allowed. Continue reading

Did RCMP Fake Terror Bombing To Blame Muslims?

On Canada Day 2013, the RCMP ‘faked’ a Terror Bombing in Victoria B.C. The Media then ‘blamed’ Canada’s Muslim Community – who had nothing to do with it.

(May 9, 2016): The RCMP carried out a fake Terror Bombing in Victoria BC on July 1, 2013. Canada’s Media then told us that Muslims had done this terrorist act. Was this ‘operation’ planned and carried out not to ‘prevent’ a bombing, but to fake a bombing and then use that act to blame Muslims and create fear and division in our country?

A phony bombing was carried out by the RCMP. There is no real question about that. And then the Media linked the bombing to Canada’s Muslim Community. Why did Canada’s Corporate Media so happily participate in blaming this ‘terror bombing’ on an entire community of innocent people. The ‘Official Story’ we are being told seemed absurd almost from the beginning. And yet the media repeated it over and over, as if it were ‘really true’. Were journalists told to report the story in a certain way? Continue reading

Shaw Cable Cancels Program That Suggested RCMP faked ‘Terror Attack’ in Victoria BC and worked with Media to blame Muslim Canadians.

(April 11, 2016) By Jack Etkin- former host of Citizens Forum

Shaw Cable refuses to air a Community Television program suggesting the RCMP and the Government of Canada faked a terror bombing in Victoria BC in 2013 and then – with the Corporate Media used the incident to create a backlash against Muslim Canadians and create divisions in Canadian society.

These are serious allegations to make against the government, police, and media – to say that they faked a bombing and then put the blame on a community of people that had nothing to do with it … but I think that’s exactly what happened. The Media put a lot of blame on Muslims for this phony attack – and Shaw participated in that. But when I said what seems to be true – based on the evidence – Shaw refused to air it and then canceled our program.

Here is the background story: The RCMP targeted a couple in their 30’s who were poor, troubled and heavily drug involved. And they had ‘become Muslim’. By the time the RCMP ‘op’ was finished, the couple were on video planting bombs at the BC Legislature on Canada Day. They have been in jail ever since for something that NEVER would have happened without the RCMP setting it up. They even feared the RCMP would kill them if they didn’t plant the bombs. A BC Judge is looking into the issue of ‘entrapment’ by the RCMP.

So, based on that story, Canada’s Media linked Muslim Canadians to the ‘terror bombing’ over and over again, and really smeared Canada’s Muslim community. And the media told us we really need Bill C51 … to help stop this ‘homegrown terrorism. (See Calgary Herald story).

But the evidence suggests the Harper Government and the RCMP ran a false flag operation and used it to target Muslim Canadians, and that’s what I said. Shaw refused to show that, but it’s fine for the media to say ‘the Muslims did it’.

Divide and Conquer is an old and effective trick. That’s what I think we are seeing here, the deliberate creation of fear and division in our society by our senior politicians, the national police, and the media. If that’s true – if they are doing that to us – then our country is in real danger – from our own Corporate and Political leadership.

And it shows how much Canada needs a media that is independent of Corporate ownership and control. These kinds of things could not happen if we had an honest media. And our leaders trick us and manipulate us all the time. This attack is just one example.

Why would our leaders fake a terrorist attack and then put the blame on an entire community of innocent people. And why won’t Shaw allow that to be said? These are important questions that demand answers.

DESTROYING OUR FUTURE: Christy Clark .. Site C .. and Corporate Canada

No Site C Dam Here

“Creative Commons No Site C Dam Here” by tuchodi is licensed under CC BY 2.0

(March 24, 2016)  The big problem in Canada is that The Corporations run the country.  They own The Big Media, and they control The Top Politicians.  The politicians ‘manage’ us – and the Media keep us divided and uninformed so we don’t get in the way.

Site C is one example.  It’s an economic and environmental disaster – but it works for the 1% of the 1% – so Christy Clark is building it for them.  She’ll spend Billions of our dollars to build Site C and destroy some of Canada’s best farmland.  And Site C will also help bankrupt – and privatize – BC Hydro. It’s Win Win for big business. Continue reading

Canada: The Colonial Curse.

by Robin Mathews.

Part One:

The Canary In The Coal Mine: Culture.

We often think of ‘Culture’ as out there. But it’s here. And it has to be here because it’s us.

Economics makes possible the culture we know and live and create… and is part of culture. And culture is, normally, the voice and character of the people (visibly expressed in the arts). As “speaking of what we are” culture is very important … and so (in a colony) it’s controlled in a hundred ways (we don’t see). “Speaking of what we are” can be dangerous. So, for instance, appointments to major cultural management positions show who is really in charge in a country.

In a colony culture is the voice of the foreign-owned and sold-out economy. The two link inextricably – culture and economy. In Canada formal “Culture” doesn’t explain, doesn’t resist the colonial condition. In Canada it sells out. Cultural organizations which – in a colony – should be leaders towards independence are, in Canada, guardians of on-going colonization.

By definition “voices” of and for the culture – freest to speak, existing to speak (we say), artists, arts organizations and all those others who speak to us (universities, presses, Media, magazines, etc. etc. “Culture”) in Canada deny their critical role; they urge colonial passivity. And they do so, often, by denying the colonial condition exists. Continue reading

Canada Health

By Will Smith.

More people should be moving here to Canada, as we have the most powerful health-magic in the world.

In France, vaccines are dangerous and people are now avoiding them. They are obviously ignorant – the only thing they need to do is move to Canada! Here in BC the government announced that vaccines for children are safe, and they are going to force parents to explain the reason, if their child is going to school without having been vaccinated! Telus Censoring Community Television

Can a Corporation support ‘Community’ ?

(Feb. 27, 2015) Above is a ‘Community Television’ program Telus said Canadians could not see because it did not meet the Telus ‘balance’ requirement . Please have a look and see what you think. Perhaps start with segment 2 (at 21:40) – a discussion of the terror attack at the Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris. Segment 3 (40:15) is about climate change; Segment 1 is ‘various’.

We told Telus their refusal to show the program raises issues of ‘freedom of the press’. Telus assured us they support a free press, and asked us to resubmit the program. We will … but Telus policy also has to change. Continue reading
