Bell Media and GMO

G M O FOODS: Why would Bell Media say there is NO evidence of danger when there IS evidence of danger?

Aug. 31, 2016:  CFAX Radio in Victoria is owned by Bell Media. On August 29th, one of their hosts said there is Zero Evidence GMO foods are harmful in any way.

That’s fine, except there IS evidence GMOs are harmful.  (see bottom)

The host certainly doesn’t have to believe the evidence GMOs are harmful. He can talk about ‘industry evidence’ saying GMOs are safe. But how can he say there is NO evidence GMOs are harmful – when there IS evidence. Continue reading

TAKEDOWN

By Anne from Saltspring Island.

I am temporarily nesting in a small, simple cabin over the winter months. It overlooks a green, dreamy lake mirrored in magnificence by a thick array of trees standing tall and proud. Each morning, flocks of vocal feathered friends and I greet our connection to all this splendour. This particular morning, however, would be so profoundly different for me, a personal revelation or am I yet another humble conduit for the earth’s urgent message? It began with a glimpse of a delicate, golden leaf spiralling down in its dance to the ground. This very ordinary sight would yield the deeply unsettling reminder that unlike the leaf who in its “aliveness” gives us breath and in its “death” gives enrichment, sadly humanity is only offering up our dance of destruction.

We are the TAKERS. We take the soil, digging, extracting and contaminating. We take the water resources of lakes, streams and rivers and destroy their precious purpose of sustaining all life. We bulldoze paradise and replace it with arteries of highways, sterile big-box stores, half-empty, paved parking lots and vast swaths of suburbia bursting with larger-than-necessary houses filled with our plastic possessions. We take over the oceans of glorious undersea gardens housing majestic creatures of the deep and fill them with toxic dead zones of our waste while endless cargo ships, floating hotels and large fishing fleets leave depletion and destruction in their wake. We take over the skies with invisible highways choked with airplanes, belching smoke stacks, noxious clouds and faded blue. We take over mountains, disturbing their pure and silent majesty with year-round playgrounds for our noisy, self-indulgent amusement. We take away the magic of the changing seasons with our incessant whining of dissatisfaction. Continue reading

BC Legislature Meets on Petronas Give-Away Bill

No Fracking(July 13, 2015): Citizens interrupted Christy Clark as she spoke in the Legislature on Monday introducing a Bill to sell British Columbia out to Petronas. Ms. Clark, with the assistance of the NDP, plans to have this Bill passed within two weeks, before most people realize what’s being done to us and our province.

Your MLAs DON’T want to hear from you on the Petronas deal,
but you CAN tell them what you think …

THE LIBERAL CAUCUS CAN BE REACHED AT: 250 356-6171
THE NDP CAUCUS CAN BE REACHED AT: 250 387-3655
ANDREW WEAVER OF THE GREENS AT: 250 472-8528

Media won’t say F Word: The Corporate Media pretends it’s all about jobs, as if they cared about jobs. They don’t, the media care about Corporate Profits. The media pretend BC will get a lot of money from this, which is NOT true. And the media refuse to say the word Fracking, which is what the Petronas deal is all about. They intend to POISON this province with fracking.

Thank you Christy Clark, John Horgan, our wonderful MLAs, and the corporate media. This is truly one of the greatest betrayals in BC history.

Why is Christy Clark Poisoning British Columbia?

No Fracking

No Fracking

(June 23, 2015) Christy Clark does not work for the people of BC, and nor does she care about us. Christy works for Corporate Canada, and they will make a lot of money by poisoning us. Christy’s job is to help them.

Corporate Canada wants BC’s oil, gas, water, metals, forests, and etc. And they have no intention of reducing their profits by one penny to protect the environment, or the people who live here. Continue reading

No Environmental Risk From Fracking Says Canada’s Finance Minister

On Sept. 5, Finance Minister Joe Oliver told Canadians that the 175,000 Fracking wells already dug in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia do not create an environmental risk and have not contaminated any drinking water. Mr. Oliver made these comments after Nova Scotia decided to ban some forms of fracking in that province.

If you google ‘fracking safety’, you will see that NO ONE can say fracking is safe.  Does Mr. Oliver have ANY proof that fracking is safe? Is Mr. Oliver speaking for the people of Canada or for  Corporate Canada? Continue reading

Mount Polley Cover-Up Continues

Mount Polley Disaster

Mount Polley Mine Tailings Pond Collapses: A major environmental disaster occurred in British Columbia, Canada in early August when a man-made lake filled with contaminated water and toxic mine waste collapsed and contaminated the surrounding area. The incident took place in the Cariboo region of BC involving an area including Quesnel Lake, the Fraser River and much more. Mount Polley mines copper and gold. Millions of cubic meters of water, ground up rock, and chemicals were stored in the ‘pond’ which was about 4 sq. km. in size.

According to Environment Canada, many tonnes of Arsenic, Mercury, Lead, Cadmium and a variety of other toxins were loosed into the surrounding area.  Some of these toxins are dangerous at ANY level of exposure. Continue reading

The Mount Polley Inquiry Is A Cover-Up

After only two weeks, it looks as if the Mining Industry and our Corporate Politicians and Media are successfully sweeping the entire disaster under the rug.

Mount Polley may be the single biggest man-made environmental disaster’ in the history of the province. But that was last week. As of August 19th the problem seems to have been ‘contained’.

The Government has put in place an ‘Independent Inquiry’. The province’s Corporate Owned Media are moving on to new stories. And the opposition NDP will barely say the word ‘environment’. Everyone is just worried about ‘restoring public confidence in the mining industry’ … so they can do it to us again.

BUT THE REAL PROBLEMS ARE JUST BEGINNING. Continue reading
